The place is closed now and the building has sat empty for years which is amazing as it's prime land right on the waterfront. This is Uli at the front of the entrance to the old place. According to Uli it was always full and a fun place to hang out. This was an amazing (and sad) nostalgia trip for him and there were a few photos of him still stuck on the front door.
It is an extremely impressive store. This video shows only one part of the store, the guitar section. There are 6 other sections all as large as this area.
This is what 79 Euro ($160 AUD ish) gets you for a hotel room in Paris. This hotel in the centre of the city was good value but extrmely old. The room is very small as you can see in the video.
Monday March 23rd and Tuesday 24th were spent in Paris visiting dealers with our NAM Veronique. Fortunately she knows the Metro (subway system) well and we travelled by train everywhere in Paris.
During our travels I came across this band who are well known in the metro. Sounded great in the reverb chamber of the metro…
Mike & I went for a few beers late on Saturday afternoon and this is a video I took of the old town just outside the pub we were drinking at.
It is amazing the history of these places and Hertogenbosch is no exception being over 1000 years old.
Today, (Thursday) Oli and I drove to Newbury. A very cute but small town on the west side of London. Here's a quick video I took on my N95 of the main street.
This week (Monday March 16th to Thursday March 19th), I have been in London visiting dealers with our two UK based NAMs Clive and Oliver.
Both lovely guys and good at their gigs, we had a fruitful 4 days. Business in the UK seems very good right now according to our dealers, which is contrary to the negative picture the UK media is portraying. This first video is from Tuesday when Clive and I went for a drive down Regent Street.
Today (Sat March 14th) I visited the city of Cologne (spelt Koln in German). About a 30 minute drive from Willich, autobahn most of the way. A beautiful city with a towering cathedral (Dom) in the centre of town. I noticed as I was looking at the cities postcards, many references to the second world war. It seems Koln got smashed during the war but the cathedral towers remained by some miracle. Shown here are a couple of photos I downloaded to show the cathedral of today and circa 1945.
To see the devastation of Koln during the war, check out this You Tube clip I found from the History channel. It shows just what a hammering Koln took.
