Alison & Lucy visit Lux

It was our pleasure to have friends from Melbourne stay with us last week. Alison is a friend of Julie’s from high school, and she spent 4 days with us (with her 7 year old daughter Lucy) at the end of their month long holiday in Europe. It was great for Julie to have a shopping partner for a few days and they spent precious time together in both Lux and Trier (Germany).

Julie’s birthday

Happy 40th Birthday to my beautiful wife Julie. I gave Jules a matching bracelet and necklace from Frey Wille. This is a jeweller from Vienna who makes very distinctive jewellery. I chose the endless love design which you can see up close HERE.

Parents head home…

After two fun weeks in Luxembourg, sadly Mum and Dad left us today to go home to Melbourne. They boarded the 5pm TGV (fast train) to Paris, and we spoke to them late tonight before they boarded the plane. It was fantastic to have them here and we really enjoyed showing them beautiful Luxembourg.

The photo on the left was taken just before they left today. (Please ignore Gabs height, she is wearing new crazy  high heel shoes, she is definitely not that tall)…  🙂

Wednesday

Wednesday was a more relaxed day. We had a lovely picnic lunch in the local park and then went to the Villaroy & Boch outlet center not too far from our place (more about that below). Thursday we are off to Trier just over the German border for some more tourist action.

Julie & I purchased some really cool Villeroy & Boch coffee mugs (left) with the worlds most comfortable handles. Villeroy & Boch fine Chinaware started life in Luxembourg in 1748, but unfortunately they no longer manufacture here and they now manufacture mostly in China (of course) and some in Germany. We were lucky to find these mugs which are some of the last Made in Luxembourg products available.

Tourists in Lux

The past couple of days have been spent relaxing in Luxembourg. Yesterday we visited the Casemates (which are the fortification tunnels used to protect the city in past centuries). Today Mia had her first vaccination shots so she was a bit out of sorts but she made a great comeback late today and was able to come down to the Grund with us.

Bruges Videos

We have had a wonderful couple of days in Bruges. Nana and Pa have done a few activities on their own whilst Julie & I have managed Mia’s sleeping routines. The Belgian chocolate shops have been a particular favourite of Nana and there are literally hundreds to choose from here. Mia has been very good and she even slept through dinner last night (see the video below left).

Today we have the 3 hour drive back to Luxembourg and we are hoping Mia can make it with lots of sleep and only one feed stop. Hotel check out is at 11am so we should be home late afternoon.

Please click the videos on the left for yesterday action.
