A new Merc

I simply asked for an automatic car with a built in GPS, (rather than the stick on the window GPS) and they got me this beast. This will be like driving a lounge chair down to Luxembourg…

Apparantly there's not a great choice of automatics in Europe.

Konigsalle (Video, click to play)

This is Konigsalle. The main shopping strip in the middle of Dusselfdorf. Very pretty spot. All the big names are here, Zegna, Armani, etc.

On the right side of the water, is the old part where all the small shopping alleys are located. It is a beautiful place to wander around.

Dusseldorf arcade (video, click to play)

A busy Saturday afternoon in a Dusseldorf arcade. There's buskers, performers, and the crowd straight ahead at the start of the video are outside the local pub mostly enjoying a beer (very keen on a cold afternoon).

Saturn-shops-Dusseldorf

This is the hi-tech shopping centre on Konigsalle (or the K) in Dusseldorf that has the Saturn store over 3 floors. Every hi-tech gadget under the sun.

Needless to say I spent a bit of time in there today, but I was very good and didn't buy anything. Not that there were any bargains around. Most items are cheaper in Australia.

Dusseldorf Harbour

Although extremely cold, it was quite a sight down on the Dusseldorf wharf today.

It has rained for the past few days, but it cleared up today to make for a pleasant Saturday afternoon shopping day.

Mercedes B180

This is the cute little Mercedes B180 I have as a hire car for the next few months. It's a diesel and it drives really well. I took it up to 160km/h today on the drive into Dusseldorf and cars were still hammering past me.

Great fun though…

I used the GPS to get to Dusseldorf and I went straight to the middle of the city without a mistake. Quite amazing really. The main shopping strip was insanely busy with cars everywhere, and Jules you will be pleased to know a car pulled out half way down the street and I got a park straight away 🙂

Behringer Office in Willich, Germany

This is our office in Willich Germany. Last time I was here in 2002 we had over 140 people working here. Now, most of the jobs have been moved to Singapore and Manila.

We now have less than 50 here and yes the building is now for sale.

Hotel Bathroom Willich

March 3rd 2009: This is the first bathroom I was given at the Landhotel Classhof in Willich Germany. I politely asked to change rooms given I didn't want to:

a: Take a bath every day for the next 5 weeks or

b: Take a shower bending over so I don't smack my head on the window.

I'm not sure who would happily accept this bathroom, but I guess they're using every bit of space they have.
